Hi Everyone,
I have new babies about 1 week old. It is terribly hot here. It's been about 90 degrees. I have been turning the heat lamp off during the day. Is that okay? They all seem to go away from it. Any other advise is welcome. I have 31 new heavy breed assortment, including 4 aracauna.
Thanks,
J

You can tell by how they act... If they huddle together they are cold. If they go to the outer edges, away from the light they are too hot. So If the light is off and they are doing what chicks do... eating pooping drinking pooping sleeping pooping and not in a dog pile they are probably ok. Check the room temp to be sure.
