Hello! I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided to join! We just got chickens for the first time this year, and my first group of 13 Tractor Supply chicks are all moving outside soon. My birthday/mother's day present (8 Ameraucana chicks 
) will be arriving in late June.
It's been a blast. I love how low-maintenance and fun they are. My current flock includes Lori and Marge the Buff Orpingtons, three Colombian Rock Crosses all named Mary Cinderella (courtesy of the toddler), two Isa Browns (Appolina and ???), three Silver-Laced Wyandottes named Evil Stepmother, Anastasia, and Drizella (again, toddler), a Silkie named Marshmallow, a Golden Sebright bantam named Marigold, and an Old English Game bantam named Chicken Parmesan (courtesy of the husband). We had a fourteenth chick, a little cochin bantam, but sadly s/he died the first day, presumably from shipping stress.
I'm hoping we can keep a rooster or two, but it's a bit dicey on our property of just under an acre. All of our chickens are sexed female except for the silkie, bantams, and upcoming Ameraucanas.
