I had a question about their bellies. This Thursday, our Cornish X will be about 8 weeks old and we will be getting them butchered on Friday. I have done a good bit of research on them, so I was expecting the growing/feather issue and such. What I am concerned about are their bellies.

We have them currently out in a chicken tractor. We move the tractor twice a day. Unfortunately, since they poop constantly, the area in the tractor is filled with poop in a good period of time after we move it. The result of this is for a long period of time (in between moves), they are just laying in their poop. What is also making this more concerning is that since we have had monsoon rains for the past 5 months, they are also laying in wet grass and their poop.

When I look at their bellies, of course there are no feathers, but the skin also seems to be very red, almost raw looking, like when babies have diaper rash. They don't seem to be distressed, but man it looks rough. It just may be red like that normally, so that is why i came on here in hopes that you guys can calm my concern.

should I be concerned with the skin/meat on their bellies having to sit in their own poop and mostly wet grass for long periods of time? Will it effect the taste after butchering them?

Anyway, sorry that I don't have pictures. I am sure this is all normal, I just thought I would throw this out to you all.

-thanks!
