Last night we couldn't find my bantam blue wyandotte pullet Newbie. No feathers or no blood at all in the yard. This morning I got up and went and looked in several yards and finally I found her. She was litterally ripped to shreds. All I can figure is that she squeezed under the privacy fence while I was inside working on my last 4-H projects and hid under my neighbors shed at night to lay an egg. There by her body was a broken egg shell. I am thinking either cat, coon or possum. But WHATEVER it is it's going to die one way or another.
Newbie was my first chook I had rescued from school. She was also the first cross beak I had given a home to. She was the only one who hatched and lived out of 24 eggs. I snuck her home in a cup on the bus. A few days after she had very bad wry neck I believe. She couldn't breaths thus she was the first and only chicken I hav givin CPR to. WE thought for sure she was a goner, but she pulled through and got stronger and stronger. And now.. she's just gone..
She was my favorite bantam and will always be.
RIP Newbie my baby
It's going to suck taking her tag off the cage at the county fair...
