First time

can you post a picture? would help to see how far along the chick is.

sometimes the last chicks to pip get dried out and stuck in the egg. some people choose to leave the chicks alone and others will try to get then out.

to get them out (if you are SURE the chick is dried out and not just resting before hatching) then you take tweezers and gently peel off the egg where the pip is. make sure that if you see the shell membrane and there is blood or anything, you put the egg back. if you try to rip off the shell to early you could kill the chick.

just keep working the shell off and if u see it is dried onto the chick, you take a warm wet paper towel and get the membrane moist and it will peel off. just be extra careful, it is a delicate process./

Thank you for your reply. It seemed to be dried and tiring quickly so I went ahead and helped it. I made certain it was able to kick off the last half on its own, just in case. Seems to be doing well. I knew it was dangerous but didn't think I had another choice is I wanted a live chick. :/

As soon as I did what I felt was the least amount of help I could get by with I stuck it back in the incubator by itself to recover at its own pace and removed the others to the brooder.
