I am very happy I found this site as I am a first timer. Will be picking up my new babies on Saturday. Have the brooder all set up and ready to go. It's a 90-95 degrees toasty as recommended. I am only getting 4 babies so as not to get too overwhelmed. Looking forward to nice fresh chicken eggs and the thrill of taking care of them. Always thought it would be fun to be a farmer. I am 54 years old, somewhat newly married (3 years), and am living on 3 acres in the calaveras county foothills in northern calif. I am so excited to join in the fun! - Mrs. Eileen Thomas

Welcome to BYC, Eileen! Be sure to post pictures of your new chicks when you get them. We love seeing fluffy little babies! What type are you getting?
