Hi,
I have been reading for a couple of weeks to learn as much as I can about my new chicks. I received them on Wed.5/20, so they are about a week old now.
So far, I have made a boot for a dominique, who has curled toes on one foot,
Started a feeding frenzy with hard boiled egg, they loved it.
Found out that owning them even 4 days, they have found a place in my heart.
One took ill yesterday, so I isolated her, made a dash to the feed store for info and a cure, but the folks there were very kind, and assured me I was doing ok by them, and sent me home with another chick, it was very sad. she died later in the afternoon. I cleaned the brooder, food and water containers, and all is well now...I Hope!
our flock includes 5 Buff Orpingtons, 5 EEs, 4 Dominiques, and one surprise Black Cochin.
We live on 11 acres in the country, and are getting ready to start the coop.
This forum is a wealth of information and guidance.
