If your can find the right size, I know there are circles square vents people use with washing machines. They may fit in the holes so you dont have an entire opened hole that rain and snow can get in. If it doesnt fit either make it fit by making the hole the right size. I would definitely find some kind of vent to put over thoughs

NO - you are not going to have warm chickens, you are going to have damp chickens if you shut them up tight, and damp chickens are cold chickens.

Don't worry about keeping them warm, KEEP THEM DRY.
