Hi, first year with our wonderful chickens. We built our coop ourselves, using instructions from this site. We are so happy the way it turned out, and our chickens love it. Chickens are doing well, but to our surprise 7 tiny baby ducks showed up in our yard, only a couple of days old. No momma in sight, so am thinking something happened to her. We have them in a brooder, and wouldn't eat anything yesterday, today they are starting to eat, but haven't seen them drink, have tried dipping their beak in, but they seem so frightened, not having much luck. I added water to their food, so hopefully they are getting some. Any advice would be so appreciated to help these little ones. And will they fly away when grown, fine either way, just want to help them live. I added a picture of our coup, we are so proud of the way it turned out, thanks to the egg drop coup for the inspiration!!

I know we live about a mile or two from any water, but not sure what kind of ducks they are, am thinking mallards? No one in our neighborhood has ducks, so am thinking they are wild. Either someone dumped them on us, or they walked quite a ways. I'll post a picture and maybe someone can help out. We did collect them and put them in a box and left them outside letting them chirp in case the momma was nearby, but she never showed up.

might of gotten hit or killed by a predator. Did you post this in the duck part? They have helpful people there!
