fish tank heaters for small 4" pvc waterer ?

This will be my first winter with my girls. I have made a PVC waterer. it's great because we have to same space in our coop. if I put a five gallon bucket in there they would have very little space. My husband bought a pre fab coop with run

. I have since have temperately expanded the run and insolated the thing. But it has to last the winter

has anyone had success with a fish tank heater? and if yes what kind?

Has anyone successfully kept a PVC water from freezing ? how?
