My coop is over run with what looks like fleas. I've checked the chickens and can't find any on them.( Even though I'm sure they HAVE to be full of fleas. ) They don't have any black spots on their combs or wattles so I don't think the are sticky fleas , that I've seen people talking about. How do I get rid of them? And does this mean that my dogs and cats are full of fleas too? I haven't found any on my animals either. But maybe I'm just terrible at looking. Lol but please what do I use on my coop that won't hurt the chickens?

I’ve never had a flea infestation but I have had mites. I cleaned out the coop and run and dusted with food grade diatomaceous earth, although scone people say to use pethimatrim or something like that. It might be an insect that doesn’t parisitze on chickens, so at that point I wouldn’t treat them unless you see them on the birds.

I had to finally stop rescuing dogs from the pound when I lost an older dog. Couldn't control the fleas. Now the neighbors cats have taken over my back yard and I still have fleas on the back porch and they get inside the house!

The most effective long term thing I have found are small pie plate sized lights. A tiny night light bulb, two plastic plates, openings along the side, and a sticky pad below. I keep spare bulbs and sticky plates on hand and one constantly in use in the laundry room which shares a hall with my bath and master bath.

It keeps the fleas down to near zero. Sometimes I'll come back from a week long trip and get one or two bites, not sure why, I guess from fleas that have migrated in from the back porch and haven't found the flea trap yet. Look on Amazon.
