Fleas in coop bedding

I noticed what I believe are fleas crawling around in the pine shavings/hemp bedding in my coop, but specially underneath the hanging feeder. I have not seen any changes on my chickens skin or faces. Hoping I can get rid of them before it gets worse. I plan on removing all old bedding first. I have both first Saturday lime and diatomaceous earth. Wondering on your preference between the two and how much exactly to apply it (a layer under my new bedding or sprinkled on top).
I assume I should wear a mask when applying it regardless how I apply it?

Thank you in advance for your help and advice!

Skip the D. E, it's useless for pests, it's also bad for both you and your birds to breathe. Get some permrethrine poultry dust and dust liberally.
