flemish rabbit feeding

I feed Purina rabbit chow. 18% protein. Flemish need the higher protein. Grass hay and my girl gets a pinch of oatmeal twice a day. I don't have a specific amt of food that I feed, because she doesn't over eat. I "eyeballed" the bottom of her dish. She is now bred, hopefully, and I'm free feeding her. Mine is also a pet, so she gets the occasional treat like a grape or strawberry. She loves them. She also goes outside and eats dandelions. (or she will again when it stops snowing...

Whatever breed rabbit, you cannot feed an all pellet diet. It's extremely unhealthy.

You should feed unlimited timothy hay, daily. If no timothy hay is available

for the rabbit, it can get blockages in the digestive system. Timothy hay also

grinds down their back teeth, which never stop growing. That will help prevent

having to take the rabbit to the vet with overgrown teeth. You also need to be feeding

around 1 cup of leafy greens daily. If your feeding whats listed above, you can feed

half a cup of pellets per day, per 6 pounds of body weight. If you decrease the amount

of veggies, and/or timothy hay, you should increase the amount of pellets. I buy

my pellets localy. And also please look IN the pellets before you buy them. Anything

with seeds, and extra 'goodies' is not healthy for your rabbit. This is a pet rabbit that you have?

Depends on whether it's going to be used for breeding meat rabbits or a pet rabbit. If I fed mine a cup of greens every day my rabbits would eat me out of house and home, lol. Mine get pellets and hay and every once in a while they get a treat of some sort.
