So I guess I need to get DH to put some type of mesh material up under the roof (the triangle part between the roof and the walls - don't know what its called). cause one of my darn roosters keeps getting out and that is the only open part (when the door is closed).

I put hardware cloth over all the openings in the eves. It not only keeps the chickens in, it keeps the preditors out. If you have a space in your coop that a roo can get out, then racoons and possums can get in. Bird netting or chicken wire will keep the roo in, but won't keep the chicken eaters out.
