Flies inside?

The homemade fly trap is even handier if you put the mixture in one of those 2L soda bottles. You can cut the top 1/3 or so off, toss the cap, and put the top part back inside the bottom part, upside down. They won't be able to figure out how to get back out. And it's disposable when nasty!

Yeah, i tried the 2 L bottle and i mixed yeast, sugar, and warm water. So far is working not as much as i though but it works

it's better than nothing;)

I made the 2 liter bottle traps and they work. I put beer and dog poop in the bottle. I still have flies, but it is only day two. I can see about a 20 flies in each bottle. I want the Fly Predators but they seem a little pricey.

Anyone in Nashville want to split an order?

This is my first year attempting fly control (if there is such a thing) around our barn but for the adult flies, we are using two hanging Rescue traps (bags with water and bait in them). At first it didn't seem to be doing much but the past few days the bags have been buzzing with trapped flies (and there are a lot of dead ones). The flies don't seem to know how to get out. They do stink so put them somewhere you won't mind the smell. IE not near your grill etc. I took pics tonight but don't wanna get them off the camera right now. Still, pretty impressive and gross.

And for the larvae I am trying DE near poop and coop and fly predators which you can get from Spalding Labs. The fly predators are not cheap as noted, and of course we had a sudden cold snap after I put the first batch out so I doubt we got much out of that batch... but more are coming soon. I feel it is worth a try since flies buzzing and biting around the animals and me will be very unpleasant.

Edit to note, the DE is not out at the same time as fly preds, I don't want to kill them! I put some out since whatever fly preds we had probably died. I will prefer to use the fly preds and DE sparingly in places we haven't set out fly predators.

Also, last year was not bad since our animals weren't there until late in summer. Hoping to keep it that way.
