Floating Duck House

I have 4 ducks about 5 months old. They have been have been in a coop until now. I've built a floating duck house for my pond. They love the pond but will not go inside. I've put lettuce , corn, feed , tou name it. But they will not go inside of it. It's been 2 days. Will they finally realize its safety? Help, they are my babies. Dont want anything to happen to them.

Mine refuse to go into anything except the woods when a hawk is around.

If it's open they will be sitting ducks quite a few predators will swim for a free meal.

I have only heard bad things about floating duck houses. Seems most ducks don't enjoy sleeping in them for the most part. I would consider building one on land for them so they can safely escape predators at night because a hawk or owl could easily snatch them at night/day.

My ducks have to be herded in at night... I wouldn’t have any success with a floating house, since I don’t have a wetsuit

Arent, you concerned an aerial predator might snatch them up? Or snappers during the spring/summer.

Oh geez...I know this allll too well! We built a beautiful duck house last year...put them in it, feed, etc, just like you. They never once used it. They swam under it...ours had a lid. We opened the lid so they could see out, and maybe wouldn’t be scared. No luck. Eventually we pulled it out and used it as our sick or hurt duck hospital room. It still drives me crazy! I stained it, even torched it...it has a rubber roof. Good luck!
