Today as happens about this time every year, a massive hatch of ants launched into air where queens and drones from different colonies hookup, drones die, queens drop wings and make effort to start new colonies. Launch of these occured a couple hours prior to dark resulting flying ants as far as eye could see. The flock of juveniles with range centered on front porch busted up with birds going everywhere after the ants. The went mostly out into high grass where they seldom go chasing easy to catch fat loaded morsels. Occasionally one would come across a nest and go to town scratching like made to pound the little critters down. The feeders were not touched yet birds had very full crops when going to roost. It was a very cool event. The events always seem to follow a rain during heat of summer.

The ants are crazy bad this year. I can't wait to let my new flock go wild on the *PILES* of dead ants and their living kin! Bwhahahah! :D
