I have RIR rooster who is a year old. All of a sudden he has decided he would first flog my grandson and now me every chance he gets. Or he will run up and peck the crap out of you. He use to want to be petted. My 4 ya old grandson loves his chickens and I really don't want to cull him is there and do way to break the behavior.

I don't think there is a way to break his attacking you. Though I wouldn't just let him attack you. You should protect your grand son. Kick him or protect yourself with an object, that might teach him. though if that doesn't work it might have to end.

I won't let my grandson around him anymore. Going to take a toy rake in with me and reach out and touch him if he comes at me. Maybe he will figure out who the boss is. If not dumplings will be on the menu.

from my experience aggressive roos do not learn. They will not back down. They are designed to defend their girls at all costs. They will fight to the death. If they regard you as a threat or intruder I have never found a solution to stopping them. I immediately cull any nasty boys. I've tried hitting with objects, loud noises, spraying with hose, kicking... they just come back for more. I'm afraid he will need removing or killing. Get grandson some chicks and let him bond with pullets lol

Watch Cold Mountain, there is a short scene that tells you exactly what to do. Just pay attention when the helper first comes to help the woman for room and board. If you dont have time for the movie, just insist on having chicken a dumplings or fried chicken for dinner.

After the conversation with the rake man. He avoids me and doesn't come near the feed until I'm out of the pen. So for now I don't trust him and keep a eye on him until I get some chick's then he is chicken dinner.

You might not want him to sire any chicks, aggression can be inheritable......
.......if you do hatch his progeny, stop petting any cockerels once you know they are males, familiarity can breed contempt.
