Floor covering recommendations???

Hello! I'm waiting for my coop to arrive, but have a question. It comes with one of those pull-out trays for cleaning. The tray is the standard "metal lined", but I'm not very fond of that for traction purposes. Has anyone used a product to coat the metal to give it some traction for the chickens?

I will have bedding in it, of course, but was concerned about it being slippery underneath.

I use coops similar to that for brooders. Mine have textured plastic tray liners though. The first thing that comes to mind is that your bedding should be fine without any kind of coating on the metal beneath. The second thing that comes to mind is textured drawer liner. You know the clear vinyl roll you can get at places like Walmart? That would be easy to clean and if cut to size, it shouldn't move around any.

I can say from experience that those drawers are pretty much useless with bedding material (like shavings) in it.

Thanks, the vinyl sounds like a plan. I agree about the pull-out trays, and I don't plan to pull it out all the time, so I'll have the liner and bedding, and only slide it out as necessary.
