Do I need a membrane/ paint or linoleum under my shavings on a wooden floor I will be using A poop board
Cheers Phil

Our coop has a bare wooden floor made of recycled oak planks--- there is no paint or membrane, we use shavings for litter, no poop board. This floor looks clean when swept out. I think it's good for the wood to breathe. The most chickens we've had at one time is 6 and this coop is 9' X 5'.

I do in my solid floor brooders. Keeps the wood from getting wet a lot. I use a scrap piece of vinyl flooring(one piece) and take it out when I am cleaning. My biggest wood floor brooder I use the restaurant baking sheet/pans to line the whole floor with shavings in them----any splashed out water, etc is so easy to contain and clean. No I would not use these skeet/pans in my coop because I do not feed or have water in my coops.
