Hello everyone! I am new to owning ducks and am in NPR FL. I have had some chickens for a year now, just went and got a few more and got a couple of ducklings while I was at it this year. So I started learning all I could about ducks! I thought it would be fun to start a thread for people in FL with ducks to share any info on ducks, common predators in FL, common FL duck problems going around, pics,where to get them,where to sell them, ideas,FL duck housing, keeping your ducks cool,free range vs pen ducks, ponds vs kiddie pools...etc. Anything about ducks in the Florida duck loop! I want to know all the goods and help myself and everyone around with them to have healthy happy ducks! Have fun! And I appreciate any comments,info or sharing of all kinds about our lil' FL ducky friends!

How bad are hawks for everyone in FL? I have heard many different things from people standing right there and the ducks get attacked to them not bothering much with the ducks at all....

Your ducks are adorable. I will say this plastic poultry fencing will not protect ducks from many predators they can pull it apart very easy. I am a Florida native but live in the mountains of N.C. now.

metal hardware cloth is about the only thing that will keep ducks safe from predators and a very secure house to be locked up in at night.

Thanks, I know this fence will not stop much. It is basically just to keep them in an area during the day. At night they are locked up in a wood house with doubled up layers of hardware cloth over the windows. We do plan to make a more secure day pen though and also make it much bigger and give them and upgraded size swimmy pool We love happy ducks here!
