Hi,
Yesterday I noticed that by 5 year old Sussex hen was not eating and upon closer inspection I noticed that she had what appeared to be a canker sore at the back of her mouth, lots of saliva in her mouth and a bad smell coming from it. I spoke to my local vet on the phone about this and they said that flubenvent can be used to treat this, so I bought some and have given my hen the first dose. I can't find anything on the internet about using flubenvent to treat canker, and I hate to be distrustful but I want to be sure. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Chicken canker is trichomonosis, caused by a protozoan type parasite, and there are yellow, cheesy like lesions in the mouth.
Not sure what you mean by a "canker sore".
Usually treatments for trichomonosis are acidified copper sulfate or metronidazole.
Thrush can look similar and is a yeast overgrowth/infection, treatment for that would usually be nystatin.
Some respiratory infections can also cause the discharge and odor.
It would probably be best if your vet could see her, and determine for sure what's going on.

Flubenvet is a dewormer, it will not help if this lesion is caused by trichomoniasis.
