Has anybody noticed any difference in their chickens if they use fluorescent lighting? I know it bugs me, and I don't want to irritate the hens.

I'd be willing to bet that production birds have fluorescent lighting rather than incandescant, so it's probably fine.

Fluorescent lighting shouldn't harm or annoy them but it won't provide heat if we're actually talking about chicks. Fluorescents are normally used for increasing daylight hours and my house chickens and button quail are all under strips of fluorescent with daylight spectrum bulbs.

Thanks for the info. yes, I'm thinking of it for coop lighting & extending laying hours this winter.
