Fly deterrant

Has anyone ever heard that planting basil around the coop and run will deter flies? Anyone tried it?

Hi, you know I haven't tried it. Why don't you Google: Basil Fly Control or something similar?? I would think the chickens would eat it before it could grow very big. Have you tried DE?
It is a natural product, and you can get it at the feed store, just sprinkle around the hen house, it kills bugs and drys up chicken poop too.

Definitely try DE, put it in the feed and it kills the fly larvae.
