When I had my first group of chickens ( I didn't know they were pullets ), I put out some Victor Super Fly Paper when the flies started being a problem. Back then I didn't have a fenced chicken yard so I would let them out of their tiny run and they would stick pretty close to the run. I'd step out often from the machine shop and do a head count. Once one of the pullets was missing, so I started searching for her... round and round I went with no luck. Then I spotted some fly paper laying on the ground near some weeds. So being the neat nut that I am I picked up the tape but it was stuck to something so I gave it a bit more pull and heard a yelp and it came out with some feathers stuck to it. A few moments later the pullet walked out like nothing happened.
So I remembered that event and was trying to come up with some chicken proof fly paper. I took some scrap hardware cloth and formed a circle just a bit bigger than the board. Put a bottom in it and stapled the Super Fly Paper to both sides of the board ( a sticky job for sure ). Then I can hang it with a S hook where I need the fly paper close to the ground and near food and poop and stuff that attracts flies.
