2 yr old Swedish flower starting acting off a couple months ago (runny stool, not laying, straining to poop, bloody muscus in stool).
No other chickens (I have 15) are sick or have any of same symptoms.
Shes at least half the weight she used to be now, her bones feel pointy and sharp, and the slightest pressure from even petting her will make her wobble.
It warmed up today so I just gave her a bath to get her rear cleaned up. And of course discover she’s got fly strike in her vent. I pulled out all of them I could see. Sprayed the area well with vetarycin.
But the tissue inside her vent was grey. Outside area was pink and red from the bath. Inside definitely grey. Kept thinking it was just dirty, but it was clean and still grey. What does that indicate?
Edited to add - it did not look like the pictures I’ve seen of a prolapsed vent in any way. Nothing hanging out. Just grey.
I’m struggling with what to do for her at this point. She’s not just huddled in the corner like she’s done with life. But something is obviously very wrong.
No vet out here, so I’m on my own with this - treatment or otherwise.
Any suggestions?
