I took Flyer to the El Paso Northeaster Parade today, she had a blast! I wanted to see how she would do around bigger crowds, strange noises, gun shots, etc. She did fabulous, I'm so proud of her. We were standing by the fire truck they had the American flag flying from, she visited all the firemen, the deputies, etc. who just had to come see her. They tried to see who would be her favorite by offering her hotdogs, burgers, water, but they had no idea she wouldn't touch food without my go ahead. When one of the guys offered a french fry I gave the silent go ahead so she ate it and he thought she really liked him lol! She talks to you, I got her as she was moving her mouth, she looks a little funny, but cute I think. She's Border/Kelpie, she's a year old tomorrow!

She looks just like a dog i had, Willow. She was THE smartest dog i have ever had.,.. almost human.
She was a Border Collie/American Eskimo

Cool! Nice to know that there are others who appreciate Border Collie-Kelpie crosses (umm, I guess maybe my username might hint at my affection for mine). lol My BorderKelpie and my older Kelpie went to the Winter Festival and were even invited to ride on the fire truck because they were being so sweet to the firemen. My goofy, high energy basket case kelpies napped on the truck!

Flyer is adorable!

Was she an 'on-purpose' cross or a fantastically lucky oops? (Coulter was an oops done by someone else. I was blessed to have him join my family. Awesome dogs)

She was a very carefully thought out and planned result. The husband of one of my fellow teachers is on a mission to bread the perfect herding/working dog; she's got a fantastic pedigree behind her. I'd love her to death no matter what! It's too bad her sister Cindy is total fruit loop lol,, she's afraid of her own shadow and always has been. I am working with her on self-confidence and such but I can't take her out anywhere because she is horrible stressed over it and I don't trust her. She's never bitten or snapped at anyone, but I'm afraid with her fear she might sometime. Hopefully she comes along soon. I've walked her quite a bit with her sister on a tandem lead and with her sister and my Blue Heeler Bella on a Tri leash. that was fun hehehe.

What a cutie! It sounds like you've done a wonderful job training and socializing her, too. So nice hear from good dog owners

Now to get my youngest into obedience class and turn him into a less annoying citizen

WoW, you are braver than I. Three dogs, one lead? uh, no. lol

We have a joke about my BorderKelpie. I have seriously deficient eyesight. I told my kids that I was going to use Coulter as my seeing eye dog (God love him, he has the attention span of a gnat...)I get these amusing (scary) mental pictures of us walking along just fine until he sees a squirrel or a dog or whatever, then it's him running and me just hanging on leaving drag marks in the pavement with my face. lol
He is actually very well behaved on leash and I use him to help guide younger dogs with leash training, etc as he absolutely adores puppies. Strange since he is a very dominant dog and somewhat dog aggressive with unfamilier adult dogs. Doesn't matter whose puppy - any puppy, I think he always wanted to be a mother. He even cleans nursing pups. Weird mutt.

I sure love that goofy beast.

Best wishes with Cindy, (I think it's her name, my sis's name is Cindy and she's a fruit loop, too lol)
