Flying Chickens!!

What is the flightiest chicken breed?
What are some stories of your flying chickens?

Light Asian or Mediterranean breeds are the chickens that can fly the best, though none of my wyandottes struggle with trees

Phoenix, Java, leghorns, bantams, ketwas, araucana, they all fly really well. Even my Cornish bantams do. I think my worst fliers are the silkies and polish male

Some American gamefowl can fly very well. I had a few hens that would get spooked and than fly over my house go several hundred feet across the yard and road then into the woods


As a punk kid 20 years ago my cousin would put one of his game hens into the mailbox right before the mailman came and he would watch from a hidden spot. It would fly out as angry as you can imagine and fly high into the highest tree I'm the yard.


Right now I have a few hens that fly 20+ft into the trees to roost every night
