Hi! I got 10 Golden comet chicks and now i'm wondering if they can fly?

Right now they're 2 weeks old and can flap/jump/fly 1-2 feet!!!

Chickens can fly a little, not like a bird flies high in the sky, though.
Some breeds do fly better than others. Usually it is just flying up onto their roost, or into a tree or something like that. They can also fly over a fence if they want to.

Thanks. I was wondering how high I will have to make the fence. Now I have one about 4 feet high.

I have a 6 ft. high fence and my leghorns and game chickens fly over it all the time. My heavy breeds don't even try to fly over it.

I have 4ft fence keeps most of the hens in fine. but one EE and one Sussex, jump the darn thing every day. Son will come in, "the escape artist is out again, mom"

I have a little bantie that has LITERALLY flown over our 5 foot fence, across the yard, and onto the neighbor's ROOF. Yeah...they can fly. If you're concerned, you can clip wings later.

agree with the wing clipping. just clip the inside wing feathers on one side (not till they're larger, though)
