Do khaki campbells fly? I could have sworn that mine got about 2 feet of air today to fly over their little pond!

Yes they can when younger. We trim 1 wing after the first feathers come in, then when they molt they return, but they no longer try to get up either.

That is as high as they go and only in very short bursts.

PS: I have never clipped my birds wings.

They can get a foot or so of clearance when motivated. My ducks (and especially the geese) will get upwind at one end of the yard and "fly" to the other end, honking and quacking in my imagination, joyfully pretending to be a high flying bird. They must enjoy it because run back to the other end of the yard and do it over and over.

Ok thanks everybody! I got worried there for a minute...all I could think of was that she would end up in the middle of the yard OUTSIDE of the fence! She is the duck we got because she was being picked on by the chickens and the guy who brought her over said that he had clipped her wings when she was younger. She's a few years old now.
