Fodder Feeding Question

I have been raising chickens most of my life, but I am getting my own flock since I'm out on my own now. I have been looking into the fodder system indepth lately due to the fact that my husband doesn't want me to take up our yard space to make rotational pasture paddocks. I have figured out exactly how much barely fodder to grow for my 6 hens and 2 ducks but I was wondering, do I still need to supplement with a high quality pullet crumble or pellet? Or can I give my girls vegetables, fruits, and bugs as a supplement instead? Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
