Does anyone have the nutrition of Fodder Mats at around 8days? I am planning on using Wheat as Barely? I am looking to see if it will be close to 17% Protein for laying hens are will I need to add additional protein supplements? I will add oyster shell and grit, but wondering of the other values

Looks like I might have found my answer! So this is for Wheat at 1cup of sprouts

I hope all goes well! Let me know how it works as I am thinking of doing a mix of barely and wheat. Some system state you can get 30% or so of protein, but they add nutrients and chemicals to the "flood and drain water" I am opposed to added chemicals other than from chick starter!

I am thinking of adding B vitamins dissolved if I can get all natural for my flock. But I am waiting on information from my Vet to see what he thinks

The wheat had been growing great until yesterday. I notice it had mold growing in it. I'm not going to feed it to the chickens. Next time I'm going to be careful about how much I water it.

JanetS did you wash the seeds w/ a bleach reduction first? I have heard this works to reduce mold transfer from mill to bin when your areas prone to higher humidity.

I am going to start after I plant my 1 acre summer garden so my racks are available

No I didn't. I've not heard of this. How much bleach and is it ok to feed to chickens after using it?

The bleach water is used to wash the seeds just as you would wash each tray after use to ensure there is no cross contamination. I use a 1:10 ratio. I flood the tray, drain the tray, the rinse 3 times.

Ok. Thanks. I'll try that. I've only had problems with the wheat. The BOSS and rye grass did great.
