food after hatching

So many people ask when to take the first chicks out of the incubator after hatching when more are still trying to hatch... So when you set them on day 18 could you just put a small dish of food and water in the corner that any early chicks could eat from while waiting for their siblings a day or two?

you risk having them drown while they are flopping about getting their bearings. Chicks can survive a couple days with out food after hatching.

they dont need food or water for a few days after hatching... they have eaten the yolk and there ambilical cord helps out too.
