Food and Water placement for chicken coop?

In the process of building a bigger chicken coop and wondered which is better, placing the food and water inside or outside of the chickens coop?

We have feeder inside and we have water both inside the coop and outside the coop. Our chickens are allowed to free range when we are home and they are confined to their run when we are not.

We live deep down in the country so we keep the food and water out of the coop so it does not make critters come to the coop.

In our current coop we have the food inside and the water outside. This is because our chickens share a pen with our goats. However, we are building a new coop with a covered/enclosed run and their food and water will then be put outside since the goats won't be able to get it.
