food coloring chicken's vent

Hi, I was wondering if putting food coloring in chickens vent, will it works?? we want to know because our one hen is on medication and cant eat her eggs,her eggs are blue.

Best bet is to have her in a pen by herself and after she lays her egg let her out.

We tried it, but it worked slightly. Sometimes it would show, other times not so well. It did, however, work at determining who’s poop it came from!!

I’ve tried it using gel food coloring. It was hit or miss......I would recommend sectioning her off or separating her from the flock. Good luck!!!!

we are going to watch and see when she lays,and take her egg if my other hen lays,we'll just get rid of both eggs.

Yep, sure have the lipstick has more staying power im guessing due to body heat melting it into the cracks and crevices.
