so... i have never had quail before... but im seriously thinking about it... i was talking to my local feed mill guy today... and they sell their own mix of wild game bird feed... at 300 pounds at a time... not knowing anything about quail i was curious...

how many do you have? and how much do they eat?

im just trying to figure out how long the food will last in reference to how many quail i have... i've been watching the sale of 120 texas a&m hatching eggs... no clue how many would hatch.. but... please tell me how many quail you have and how much food you go through if you would...

3lb per day needed for 30 coturnix quail is about right. If you buy 120 texas A&M's eggs (shipped) you should expect 70-90 to hatch providing eggs are fresh and fertile.

In my opinion 300 lb of feed a time for 80 birds is an overkill in hot humid climat, some feed may spoil before you use it up unless you store it indoors in airconditioned room, or you have other birds species to share the feed with.

Hom much they quoted you for 300lb game? Is it 30% protein?

i didnt get any details as far as food ingredients... they offer a manufactured brand for around $15 per 50 pound bag... then they have their own that they mill... it was $70 per 300 pounds... $11.65 per 50 pound bag...

In my area Tampa Bay $11.65 per pound min 300 lb would be no big deal, since I am paying 12.50 per 50 lb of 30% Manna pro. I like this brand and my birds love it too. Fresh and smelling nicely, plenty of vitamins including Vit B complex which overrated and overpriced Purina feeds lack. They are "proud " of using soybeans instead of animal protein like chickens and other birds were vegans. LOL

I use manna pro as well...but now they are saying that chickens need animal protein in their diet to be healthier. I love Manna pro..it's my kind of brand
