My feed store says they have DE for use on animals, etc. for bugs. BUT, when I went in asking "do you carry food grade DE?" he looked at me like I was from another planet. He carries SOMETHING, and he sells it for bug control, but he doesn't know if it's "food grade" or not.

He was out, so I couldn't even look at a bag and see what I could find in the print or label. Guess I'll see what it is when they get some more in...

I also had a hard time finding food grade DE. I will give you the information where I purchased what I have. The company is Earthworks Health at earthworkshealth.com

4 2.5 lb. gallon jugs $23.00 and Fed Ex shipping to my house cost $14.63 Total was $37.63

Fast shipping, very nice customer service and the DE is packaged in EXCELLENT plastic Jugs. No messy bag that can get damp or rip.

You can purchase more or less if you like.

Good luck!

I had a hard time finding it. I thought I found it in Ashville, NC. I even called and asked if it was food grade. Oh yes, it was he said! I was there for a weekend so it worked out to pick it up. I walked in the store and the darn bag was not food grade! I don't know why it is so hard for people to understand. So I ended up ordering it from Cotton Milling and it took 2 days to get here! Not worth looking all over, just order on the internet!

We just purchased from the same company. Earthworks Health, that is. Because we have plenty of room for storage we purchased 50lbs

$27.50 + 29.06 FedEx Shipping = $56.56.

I'm glad to hear somone else had a good experience with them.

I just called the guy and asked whether he had gotten any in. He read the label and it said "Natural Guard" and for a 5# bag it was $15!!!

I think I'll order some from online... THANKS for the site link!

Arkansas folks just started a discussion on our thread about food grade DE. I ve heard of it being used inthe deep litter method before but there are all sorts of uses for it I guess.

I got food grade DE at my "feed store" 50 lb for $12.00. But they cater to the farmer/ranchers around here.

I use DE liberally in the coop, run and dusting place. It keeps down bugs and flies. Although, the flies are horrendous this year, too much rain I guess.

DE is a natural product so you can use it everywhere.
