I went to the coop last night after my son's cubscout meeting and saw very (very) liquid poo in there from one or more of the girls (I am thinking one as it was not much). I am wondering if it is from a switch in food...or is it somehting else? They have not had this problem before. I just switched to regular purina adult food. I forget the name. I went to the feed store and, thinking they were older (I lost track of time) and I asked about food. They asked if they were feathered out, and I told them "yes." They sold me the adult food, and I pitched what was left of the start and grow stuff. Then, I realized they are only 11 weeks old (as of today anyway). Should I go back and give them start and grow again and wait until 20 weeks to give the new food again? I have no idea what I am doing. I am amazed they are still living with my lack of knowledge.

HELP!

JReedy72,

See the link below for all you ever wanted to see in chicken poo.

It's probably OK, normal.

As far as the food- Is the purina adult food "Layena"? Usually adult laying hen food has calcuim in it that may be bad for pullets. Have read that it can cause kidney damage. I would stay away from laying feed until they start laying.

And you are a great chicken owner! You are asking questions.

Imp- Many people here say to not trust feed store personel. They are not bad just uninformed.

Good luck

yes they do not need layena
they can stay on start/grower till they do lay
and also I would put
2 tbsp of ACV to gallon of water
to see if the gut flora needs help
check the runny poo as it could be sa E.coli problem
email me PM for more info
