Food Question

How long after hatching should the chicks start eating? He has been drinking, but seems uninterested in food, and is 2 days old. Is there a trick to getting him to eat?? Also he does not seem to be pooing since yesterday maybe just a little??? Any info would be great thanx

Have you tried dipping his beak down into the food? You also might want to try sprinkling a little food around and start tapping your finger like a mother hen pecking at the food. This usually gets them interested. It just sounds like your chick hasn't figured out the food thing yet. You do need to try and get him to eat though. After day 3, the nourishment from the yolk sac is pretty much gone. Try the two things I mentioned. Good luck!
