I have japanese quails as one died and this is my first hatch and very small hatch I'm being cautious with temp and food water temperature seems to be under control they seem happy however have white poop dirreah,or just dirreah I have just bought johnsons water tonic and added that bought disefcetant that kills bird flies diseases and bacteria what could I add to the food or is there nothing to add anymore should all that be fine

More likely than not you don't need the disinfectant, it might even do more harm than good..I like to keep it simple if I add any supplements to chicks (I don't think quails would be too different) if they are looking tired or lethargic I add electrolytes to their water (I've always used the sav-a-chick brand) and if they're not eating or have drank but still aren't looking right or adding the electrolytes didn't help I will add probiotics as well (I use the same brand). You can have both the electrolytes and probiotics in the water. I don't add anything to the food and otherwise make sure the brooder is clean, dry, well ventilated and the right, steady temperature with no drafts etc. I'm not familiar with Johnson's water tonic and a quick search didn't give me much information on what's actually IN it besides being a supplement for "good health", not sure I'd recommend it..any second opinions?

For me, food supplements are always the right way to go. Some people can't even afford to buy the, so since you have some. go ahead.

My bad, I did not realize you were in England, I now see it's on your location, sorry! As far as the disinfectant I'm just thinking about it possibly killing good bacteria, then again it's not going in food/water right so it should be fine; flawed train of thought, just never heard of it before and not sure where your housing the quail but bird flu most likely isn't the cause, not to say it's not though. I suppose any of what you have is worth a try, I'd try what you have before getting anything else to see if it makes a difference.
