I have a crossbred d'Uccle/Serama hen that mated with a Serama/OEGB rooster and produced two chicks with alot more foot feathering than the hen. The hen herself has only a single feather on each foot, while her chicks have almost as much foot feathering as my pure d'Uccle chicks.
I've read that foot feathering and muffs are incompletely dominant genes, but I find it curious that so much foot feathering has come out in this second generation. Both of these chicks are little roos, so I'm wondering if gender has anything to do with it.
