The Centralia area of Washington is known for periodic flooding. Turns out this might be a lead for you to get free vinyl for your coop flooring if you live in or near a similar area!

We had picked up a cheap remnant of vinyl from a local carpet store and left our phone number if they had any more they wanted to get rid of for a good price. We got a call a few days ago from the manager asking if we wanted a ROLL of light-colored, non-patterned vinyl TWELVE FEET WIDE AND 100 FEET LONG -- for free!!! Hubby laughed and said, "What's wrong with it?" The manager said it was stored in a room that had been inundated in the last flood but that this roll did not get wet; they had just decided to get rid of all the inventory in that room. For 20 bucks, he said their delivery guy would even bring it to our property and unload it into the barn.

What a deal for future coop enlargement projects! I wanted to share our good fortune in hopes you might "think outside the box" and get similarly lucky. Doesn't hurt to call your local carpet stores and ASK! (Especially if there's a flood plain nearby.)
