...what color eggs do they lay? My BR hen just hatched her last chick, and it has slight feathering on it's legs, and is super duper fluffy, more so than it's hatch mates. Besides the coloring (chipmunk) it looks (and acts) exactly like my two Salmon Faverolles did when they were chicks.
The only thing is, it hatched out of a darkish brown speckled egg. For some reason I thought SF's layed cream colored eggs?

I don't have a Faverolle rooster, just two young SF hens. The only rooster we have on the property is an EE. I will get pictures of the chick soon.

And if the chick didn't have slight feathering on it's legs, I would assume that the egg was from our Welsummer hen (Welsummers lay dark speckled eggs). I am quite sure that our EE cockerel does not have feathered legs.

Just went out and got some pictures! The last two are of one of our SF hens, and our one and only cockerel, Nermal.

Since "Jade" hatched, we've had 5 more little chicks emerge from their eggs, the latest one being born last night.
And what is more, TWO of those 5 chicks are undeniably Salmon Faverolles! :yesss: Their legs have a good bit more fluff on them then Jade's legs do, and they each have 5 toes (unlike Jade).

This is Cherub, born Oct. 18.

The blue chick in the above picture - Milo - had hatched the night before Cherub and when 'lil Cherub hatched and was still wet, Milo pecked at her oil gland near her tail until it was all bloody. :( We had to separate them for a few hours until Cherub fluffed out and her oil gland was covered. When we put them back together (we had to, Milo still couldn't catch up with the mama hen and older chicks and Cherub was very lonely) Milo pecked Cherub's beak and made a pretty large dent in it. Poor little thing (Cherub, not Milo ). Now she is doing much better, and her and Milo are besties. :ya

The second SF chick to hatch was Chilion, poor dear. At about 2a.m. last night (around when she hatched) the power went out. This morning when I found her she was out of the egg and was lying in a corner of the incubator, very cold to the touch and peeping loudly. We still didn't have any electricity, so I put her under the hen and put a blanket over the hen's cage so she would stay seated and keep Chilion warm, rather than get up and want to forage with her older chicks.
Very surprisingly, Chilion is alive and well now! She is in the brooder along with two of the broody hen's younger chicks for company. Once Chilion is stronger they will all go out with the broody hen.
We are just waiting on one more chick to hatch. I thought it was dead because of the power shortage, but I candled the egg (after the power came back on a few hours ago) and it is internally pipping! Hurray!
