There's not much I can say as I've never been in your situation, therefor not knowing what your going through emotionally.
But, you sound sooo passionate about teaching. I must applaud you for helping so many people to have a very bright future. They are thanking you now and I'm sure they'll be thanking you even more in the years to come.
I really hope you have a fast and easy recovery so you can be back with your students soon.
