For Those Who Free Range Their Ducks

I just feed chicken layer pellets to my adults. It is true that access to fresh forage will tend to even out any deficiencies. Even Holderread says that ducklings with access to fresh greens and insects will rarely show signs of niacin deficiency. I also know that free ranged chickens & ducks produce eggs with a firmer, more vividly colored yolk, which to me means, "HEALTHY!"

Enjoy!

My ducks have a buddy system, which is loosely based on breed/color. My splash swede (white) hangs out with our pekin, even though her 2 sisters, blue (dorothy)and black, hang out together... (they both have bibs... so it's still a match)... my 2 KC's hang out together, and before we lost one mallard, my 2 mallards did too. I just got 2 new mallards, so I'm hoping they will hang out with lonely mallard Dorothy (my 3 year old names all her ducks Dorothy... we currently have 3). We also just got a cayuga (dorothy) and a black runner, and based on color, I hope they'll be buddies.
