It is with a sad heart I must give up my chickens.

With all the raccoons and opossums getting in, I am having to shoot too many of them. I'm getting far too good at it. I have lost half the flock so far to predators. I guess now the grand kids can play in the side yard.

My remaining birds are going out to my mother in laws to join her 100 birds. So they should be happy. Plus they will have a rooster or two to get to know.

Thanks a million for all the great advice and support.

Signed,
Defeated.

Oh never .. let the critters get the best of you.
Get a few cats their are always free ones looking
for a nice barn to sleep in. and use hardware cloth around your runs
that should help. keep in touch .

Please don't give up!! Is there any way that you could predator proof a run for them? I'd hate to see you have to give up your girls.

Ditto!

Find something to protect your girls, just don't give up yet!

Thanks for your kind words. I did take them out to my mother-in-laws house this last weekend. One of my chickens sorta picked a fight and got a bloody comb for her troubles. I'm hoping that they come to an understanding soon.
