Such a strange law to not allow growing fruits and melons! Glad you were able to change that along with the chicken law. Chickens have been allowed in my small town just in the last few years. However, I live just outside the edge of town with 36 acres, so that didn't affect me. What a great learning experience for your sons to go through the experience of changing the law.
I also have a special needs son. He is not autistic but does have some autistic tendencies and globally delayed. He has M13L. Unfortunately, he never really connected with live animals. Music is his connection and Disney movies especially The Lion King. He absolutely loves Simba.
