Found a huge dead rat in the duck pool

The other day I was in the dickens (thats my word for the duck and chicken coop/pen lol) pen

There was something gross looking floating in the duck pool .. I scooped it out it was mostly white with black at the neck almost looked slimy but that could be because it was in the pool

I bring it over to my boyfriend.. I have it sitting on the rake

I don't know if it was fat or bloated from being in the water. Its eyes were bulged.
Anyway my bf . Flipped it over with with a stick and it looked like a large rat
The ends of the legs and tail only had bone sticking out.no feet or skin etc
Like they were stripped off

Now I am in that pen multiple times a day so it couldn't of been in there more than a few hours
I don't think it would of went in there by itself
I am wondering if the ducks or chickens attacked it. And where did its feet and tail go????

And then make a guess…
Ducks will eat everything that goes down their throat, even if it is really bad for them.
Hope you'll like the eggs…
But seriously, a rat can carry some bad diseases that are now in you pond, starting from botulism to salmonella. At least i would replace the water!

I have a feeling it was my ducks.. Gabby my runner is the queen of picking something up and dunking it in the pool.
I drained and cleaned the pool and so far they all seem fine
