Found a squirrel skin in my chickens’ yard. What?!

Hey all,
When letting the chickens out of their run into their fenced yard this morning, I found a squirrel skin! No bones, no meat, no squirrel at all, other than the skin/fur/tail. It was NOT there last night when I closed the girls in their coop/run.
We have a feral cat that I feed — he’s friendly to the chickens. Would a cat be capable of this?
Anyone ever seen something like this? It’s a mystery to me! Photo attached.

If I had to bet I’d say the squirrel got in there and the chickens didn’t let it back out.

That’s what my husband said haha. But no, it was found in their yard, outside of their locked run/coop. It happened in the night when they were away.

Does the run have a cover? Maybe a bird of prey dropped it? Or the cat made a delivery.

I’m thinking the cat delivered it. It was near our back door. Maybe it was a thank you for feeding him/her.
It’s just that I’ve never seen a squirrel skin like that!

It looks like it's already been skinned, like a pelt. Strange!
