Found Chukar, La Costa CA

IF POSSIBLE, they might want to consider feeding him turkey or game bird feed. Game birds, partridges, pheasants and quail require a lot higher protein than what is in chicken feed. But, if thats not possible I'm sre he's grateful for whatever comes his way.

As an avid chukar hunter I can say with relative certainty that is not a wild bird. I've never seen a wild chukar with an overgrown peak like that. Their normal habitat is dry, rocky areas and they wear the beaks down eating chit grass in the rocks. Probably an escaped pet.

Thanks. Yes, combined with how comfortable it is moving into someone's yard and being fed by the people. I wonder if they could put a cuttle bone out by the food or something, if that would help wear it down or if it's too far to wear down on it's own now. I wish I could see it eating, it may have adopted some strange sideways scoop or something.

It would be interesting to hear how it's adapted to eat. I would imagine, but am not sure, that the beak is too long to wear down now... not sure though.
